Simply Soft Sympathy

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been away for a bit, but several of my kiddos have been sick, and I've been super involved in a project at the Middle School here in town where two of my girls attend.
Today's share is in participation of the PPA 129 Challenge. You'll remember that PPA has decided to alternate between a color challenge and a sketch challenge, and only do a challenge every OTHER week...so this week's challenge was a sketch.

Here's the sketch:

I always take a few liberties with the sketch...turning it, or using a different shape, but I rarely will completely delete an element like I did today. I tried and tried and no matter what I created with that scalloped area, I didn't like it...so, I skipped it. I did add that Lucky Limeade DSP layer in there where the scallop should be, so didn't skip the layer, just didn't scallop it. Also, layer 3 is actually UNDERNEATH as the ribbon. Soo...let me know what you think, and Thanks for Stopping By!

Sheet Metal Magnets-Craft Show Creations

Hello! Today's share is not a card, but a bunch of 3D items I created this evening to sell at an upcoming craft show and scrapbooking crop! They are all magnets made from sheet metal. For the sheet metal, you can either use flashing (found in the roofing aisle of your local home improvement store), or you can actually cut apart soda cans and use them. Soda cans give you a nice variety of colored metal to work with also...so keep that in mind if you're looking for colorful. I used glue dots and Stampin Dimensionals in a lot of places, but I definitely recommend attaching your magnet to the back with hot glue. I like to use the thick, nickel-sized magnets because they have a good strong hold. Another option is to die cut Stampin' Up! magnet sheets into the shape of your bottom layer, and adhere it to the back. Then the whole backside would be magnetic. I suppose it just depends on personal preference and what you plan to use them for. Another tip: Use the Crop-A-Dile to punch the whole through all the layers at once if you plan to insert brads. The paper piercer is just not tough enough to poke holes in sheet metal! I hope you like my project, and thanks for looking!
