Hellooo Hoppers! + Blog Candy!

Hey there, Hoppers! Having fun yet? I hope so! If you're hopping along in order, you probably arrived here via the site of the one and only-Tory Bray.

If you'd like to go back to her beautiful site, just click HERE.

For those of you who did not arrive here on your way through the VC Rocks Blog Hop-WELCOME to you also! This is the first blog hop of the short-seasoned VC Rocks group which I am a member of, and I'm so thrilled to be a part of it! Read all the way through for a chance to win some blog candy from me!

For today's project, I did a bit of watercoloring with my Watercolor Crayons and a Blender Pen, and I used a stamp set that I just recently purchased. The stamp set is called Homegrown, and as you might expect, it includes fruits and vegetables! I have wanted this set for a long time, but thought it would not be versatile enough to use for very many occasions, so it kept getting bumped to the bottom of the wishlist. Well, I finally just broke down and ordered it, and I'm glad I did.

As you can see, aside from the watercoloring, I also used my Big Shot machine (can't live without that thing) to texture the Early Espresso piece that is placed behind the images. I love how the textured piece gives the card a little extra dimension. Another thing I love is stamps that coordinate with Stampin' Up! punches! As you can see, the "Homegrown" image fits nicely inside the oval punch, which also layers perfectly into the center of the Decorative Label Punch (another fave). It makes it so easy to dress up a card with layers when the punches go together like that!

Well, I hope you've enjoyed taking a peak at my project!

Become a follower of my blog (subscribe, or click Follow, then enter your email address) for your chance to win the prize.

What is the prize, you ask? Well, it's a set of these cards shown here today, which includes 2 each of the cards you see, plus handmade coordinating designer envelopes, a matching notepad, and pen. This would make a very cute gift for someone-male or female, or you could always keep it on your own desk or craft station!

Ok so...from here you are headed over to The Love of Stamping-a fantastic blog by my fellow Rocker, Barb Furlong.

To get there, just click HERE, and you'll be on your way.

By the way, if you've gotten lost, you can find the complete list of stops and pick up anywhere you like at the VC Rocks homepage.

Just click HERE for that, and you'll be all fixed up!

Butterfly Bliss

Happy Monday! I hope everyone has had a good holiday weekend. I almost forgot it was Mojo Monday, because with the kids being out of school, it felt like Sunday all day to me. But don't worry-I'm back on track now! I used the Mojo Monday sketch for this week:

I couldn't decide what I wanted to do, but finally I landed upon my favorite set from this year's Sale-A-Bration catalogue. Only one more week until this set is available for you to earn-I can't wait. SAB is definitely my favorite time of the Stampin' Up! year. Well....maybe Convention was a little bit awesomer than SAB, but you get the idea. :)

So here's my card:

I used Very Vanilla, Early Espresso and Marina Mist cardstock, as well as some of the new Botanical Gazette Designer Paper from the Occasions Mini (no wait here, my friends...click HERE to order from the Occasions Mini catalog RIGHT NOW!)

For a little added depth, I ran the smaller Espresso layer through the Elegant Lines Texture Folder. I "fussy cut" the two butterflies and finished everything off with my 3 favorite accessories-ribbon, pearls, and shimmer mist. Here's a couple close ups-let me know what you think.

And remember, if you'd like to order from the Occasions Mini, or learn more about how you can get this stamp set for free, just click HERE and I'll get you all taken care of.
I'm off to bed-my family has had the stomach bug all weekend and I think I might be coming down with it myself. :( Yuck!

Love Cubed !

Hey there!
Today I have a project I put together for this week's PPA (Pals Paper Arts) challenge. I got a late start, and was amazed by some of the things the other stampers had submitted. Click HERE to take a look and play along! All beautiful stuff. So here's the inspiration photo we were given:
Doesn't it just sing "Valentine's Day"? Anyhow, I mostly just used the colors, and even added a little pink. Here's what I came up with:

I ordered these wooden cubes online and they come in all sizes-these are 1". Then I cut 1"x1" squares of Brushed Silver Cardstock and adhered them to all sides. I used a combination of letters from the "Just Perfect Alphabet" stamp set and several of the mini images included in the Filled With Love set to further embellish the sides of the cubes.
The 3x3 mini card uses the Impressions Rub-Ons that are available for a limited time in the Occasions Mini catalog. It's kind of hard to see, but if you look closely, I also pierced the edges using my Mat Pack.
Here's a close up of the two projects:

I hope you enjoyed today's project-check back tomorrow for a sneak preview of SPRING! Yes, I'm tired of the cold weather already, so I'm going to do a springtime project tomorrow. And remember if you want to get any of the supplies I used here today, just click HERE to visit my website and then click "shop now".

SWAP Time!

Hello Everyone!

Today I have a couple cards that I've made for some swaps I've joined on Stampin' Connection. (That's the demo only sharing forum created by Stampin' Up!)

The first one is a Birthday Card-I've noticed that I don't usually make birthday cards ahead of time. I find myself running to the craft room to throw one together the day before (or worse-the day OF) a friend's birthday. Well, not anymore! I've joined this swap so I'll have 12 fresh birthday card ideas in my hand, ready and waiting to be CASEd. Er...I mean...yeah, well-let's be honest-I LOVE TO CASE! So they probably will serve as models for my crazy copycat self. I hope they all come marked with the original artist's name, so I can give credit where it's due....

OK...so here's the card: the group I'm in required me to use the "Crazy for Cupcakes" stamp set.

Not a lot of complicated stuff to this card-just quite a few layers. And some marker action. I colored the image using my Stamp N Write markers. I ran the big white layer through the Big Shot with the polka dot texture folder and then glued it all together. Hmm...what else- oh yeah-the sentiment is from a new set called "Fabulous Phrases" and the little baby heart, is from the Heart to Heart punch....which I seem to only pull out around Valentine's Day. Hafta change that!

For the second swap, I had to make either a St. Patrick's Day or a Thank You OR a Girl's Birthday card. Well, I chose to make a Thank You card because I knew I wanted to use the Just Beleive stamp set with the stencil technique...

It's hard to see but I sprayed the main image with Vanilla Shimmer Mist. I love that stuff. Actually, I would have liked to use the Gold, but it's empty and I forgot to add it to my last order. So...until I place another order-Vanilla it is! Still pretty, just not "glowing" like the gold would have been.

Ok well, I look forward to reading your comments and suggestions-let me know what you think!

And remember, if you'd like to order any of the supplies I used here today, you can order them 24-7 at www.angelakhan.stampinup.net.

See ya next time!

MOJO Monday

Well, it's Monday, so for today's project I have a card I made using the MOJO Monday sketch. Here's the original sketch:
And here's what I came up with:

To make this card, I used Rose Red and Pretty In Pink, along with Very Vanilla. The large Rose Red layer took a trip through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Texture Folder (one of my faves).
Then I used 2 different patterns of Designer Series Paper (both in Rose Red) for the top layer and embellished it with some Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon and some leftover Pretty In Pink Corduroy Buttons from my stash of retired stuff. For a change of pace, I rounded two corners-I like the look of it like that.
The sentiment is from Seasonal Sentiments which I beleive was a hostess set in the Holiday Mini catalog. I stamped it in Rose Red ink and punched it (and it's faux mat) with the Decorative Label punch.
As a finishing touch, I added a couple self-adhesive pearls to the bottom right corner.
Well, that's all for today-short and sweet. If you'd like to play along with this week's sketch, you can find all the details HERE, and remember, if you'd like to get your hot little hands on any of the products I used here today, you can get them HERE from my online store which is always open 24-7!

Paper Pals Arts-2nd post for the day...

I'm back with a second post-for today's creation I wanted to participate in the Paper Pals Arts Challenge. The color combination for the current challenge is Baja Breeze, Perfect Plum, and Pear Pizzazz. Here's what I came up with:

The image is actually cropped from a piece of the new Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Mini Catalog called Botanical Gazette. It has all kinds of interesting prints ranging from birds and bird cages to moths and encyclopedia print-like paper.
I used a combination of Watercolor Pencils, Water Color Wonder crayons, and the inside lid of the ink pads to color the image and also to give some tint and definition to the background.
The Pear Pizzazz layer was given a little texture using the Big Shot and the Vintage Wallpaper Texture Folder and is popped up off the Baja Breeze card base with diensionals (sorry, that part doesn't show very well).
Another fantastic new product used here is the Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon. I love this stuff, and am so glad they brought us some fresh new colors of it to use for Spring. I layered several loops of the seam binding and then secured them with an antique brad to form my multi-loop bow. Then I just attached the bow to the card with glue dots.
And last, but not least, I added a row of small pearls to the top, just because I like them! I'm still undecided if they go along with the rest of the card, so we'll see...maybe I'll do something different with it later.
Ok, well, if you'd like to play along, you can click HERE to go to the Stampin Pretty site and submit your link.
Thanks for stopping (back) by to check out my stuff...and remember if you'd like to order any of the supplies used for this project, you can access my site 24-7 at www.angelakhan.stampinup.net.

A Horse of a Different Color...

Hello again!

Today I have a couple cards for you. Well, actually, I have one card, done in two different color schemes. I first made this card at one of my upline meetings and while I originally questioned the color combination, it turned out beautifully. But every time I look at that card, I can't help but wonder what it would look like if I used a different color combination. So, I finally did! Let me know what you think and which is your favorite!

Supplies Used:

Card #1:Night of Navy, River Rock, and Whisper White cardstock

Night of Navy and River Rock ink

Just Beleive Stamp Set

Big Shot Machine and Two Tags Die

Word Window, 1 1/2" circle, and Scallop Circle Punches

Basic Black Satin Ribbon

Night of Navy Taffeta Ribbon

Self-Adhesive Rhinestones

Here's a closer picture of the 2nd card. I was hoping you'd be able to see the rhinestones that I added to the centers of the flowers, but they're still not really clear.
Ok well, sorry for the short post, but I'm off to create some more. I look forward to hearing from you, and remember, if you'd like to order any of the items used in today's project, please send me an email or visit my website 24-7 at www.angelakhan.stampinup.net.

Downline Projects

Hello again!

I know-it's even shocking to me that I'm here 2 days in a row! I told you, I'm DETERMINED!

OK-Today I wanted to share with you a set of projects that I CASED (all but one) and compiled as a package for my downline. 2 of the ladies who have joined my team this year are relatively new to stamping, and so to help them get more experience, one of the things I've decided to do is to prep (or semi-prep) several projects each month and have them complete them. I figure after a few months, they'll start to have a better feel for measuring and how layers go together and what-not. So, here are this month's projects.

This card and these two mini boxes were cased from Mary Fish. She has an awesome Online Video Class on how to make these and many other fabulous Valentine's Day projects. Please click HERE to check out her blog and purchase the Video Class.

This Petal Card Pouch is not a new idea-in fact, the Petal Card Die is now retired, but I wanted to show these ladies how simple a little treat can come together, and this seemed the perfect project to do that with.

For the last project, I have another beautiful card. This one was CASEd from Robin Merriman-she does beautiful work. I used different colors, and tweaked a few things, but other than that, it's the same card. Why change something that's already great, right? You can see the original HERE on her awesome blog.

Well, that's all for tonight! I'm off to bed! Don't forget, if you'd like more information , or to order any of the supplies used for this project, please visit my online store 24-7 at www.angelakhan.stampinup.net. Or send me an email! I'm happy to share (with the exception of instructions that belong to the awesome ladies mentioned above-for those, you have to ask them!)

Happy New Year!

OK! So didja love how I said "I'm BAAACK!" and then immediately disappeared again? Yeah? Me too. However, I have made it one of my New Year's Resolutions for 2011 to blog more consistently. I have so many things to share, that I really just have to make the time to sit down and get it posted!

So, for my first post of the new year, I have a project that I created for a swap I participate in at one of my upline meetings. We usually do cards, but I was feeling really crafty, so I did a 3D swap. If you'd like more information on how to create this and other projects, please shoot me an email. I'm happy to share instructions, ideas, and helpful hints whenever I can. To order any of the supplies used, just click HERE to be taken to my website.
Supplies:

Cardstock: Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, So Saffron, Peach Parfait (just for the beaks),Early Espresso, Old Olive and Whisper White

Accessories: Play Date Designer Series Paper, 1/4" grosgrain ribbon in old olive and whisper white, Play Date file folders

Tools: Big Shot, Scallop Envelope Die, Large Scallop Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, Bird Punch

Ok well, I hope you enjoyed this project-I'm off to create some more!
