I'm BAAAACK!!

OK...so...Summer's making an exit, the kids are back in school, my craft room has finally been painted, so now it's time to get down to BUSINESS!!!
I just came back from the Stampin' Up! Regional Seminar in Baltimore, MD and let me tell you-WHAT A DAY! The weather was beautiful and I got to spend the day hanging out with my Stampin' Up! ladies and watching some amazing and inspiring presentations.
Speaking of presentations, here is a video recap of this year's Convention for anyone who was not able to attend. It was more fun that you can imagine, and the "theme song" was pretty cute as well. So, take a minute and laugh along before reading the rest of my post (sorry it's so long today, but it's been a while since I posted)
Doesn't that look like fun?
Well, Regionals was a lot of fun as well and I want to share some of those things with you too, but since I'm so far behind, and this is already turning into a lengthy post, I will save those pictures for later...but believe me, you won't want to miss them!
So...some housekeeping announcements:
1. Do you guys like blog candy?? The reason I ask, is because several times I have sent blog candy or random "thanks for being a follower" candy to people and nobody ever reports whether it got there or not. Little things like that make me wonder if it got lost in Pony Express Land...so from now on, if you win a blog candy, couldja let me know it arrived?! Thanks
2. Since my craft room is finally painted, I wanted to announce the winner of that contest as being
ANITA!
Anita guessed Daffodil Delight and she was totally right! I love color, and I wanted my craft room to be bright and airy and energizing, so I picked a color that motivates and inspires me. Now...to get it organized!
OK...some upcoming events-I've had to take some events off my calendar, and put some new ones up, so let me apologize upfront if in reading my blog, checking my demonstrator website, or viewing my Meetup.com group, you find some inconsistencies. There will be some, I'm sure...that's just the story of my life these days...
Something I'm very excited about is the
"Town Wide Tag Sale" next weekend.
If you will be in the Loudoun County area on Saturday, October 9th, you should definitely check it out!
It's basically a big string of sales all over town including everything from private home yard sales to vendor booths and craft tables. The local library will also be holding a BOOK SALE the same day, and there are even maps of the town telling you where all the sales are. I will be hosting one of those craft tables. You can sign up to win a fabulous door prize, and I will also be selling some cute and prettyful projects I've concocted over the past few weeks and plenty of retired stamp sets and accessories. There will be a quick make and take project as well as my workshop calendar and blog/newsletter sign up forms. Plus I will be displaying some of the other amazing things that can be made using Stampin' Up! product and a little imagination. Worried that you are lacking in either of those two things? Well, good news...that brings me to my next upcoming event- my October workshop.
My next workshop is scheduled for October 27th at 2pm.
I'll be sharing some ideas and techniques, we'll be making some very cute projects and- of course- we'll be having TONS of fun!
Please let me know if you'd like to attend this event-and don't forget, if you sign up and let me know you're bringing a friend...you and your friend BOTH get a special GIFT when you arrive!
Doesn't get any better than that, right?
If this date doesn't work for your schedule, please feel free to contact me so that we can work together to set up a time that DOES!
OK...that's all I'm going to put in for tonight...now I'm headed upstairs for a hot bath and a foot rub which my husband doesn't know he's going to give me! I'll be back soon with LOTS of pictures of samples posted at Regionals.

Decisions, decisions...

Ok...so you all know I've been working on getting my craft room set up. Well, I finally decided on a paint color and got the paint...sooo..just for fun, I'm going to have a contest. Everyone gets ONE guess at what color I'm painting it-and yes, of course it's a Stampin' Up! color. I had the paint matched electronically to a piece of cardstock, and I LOVE IT! I hope I still LOVE it when it's plastered up on all 4 walls!
So...start guessing....there will of course, be a prize!!

Winner! And Convention Stuff!

Ok...I'm back already...two posts within one hour...whew!

The winner of the "Get to 50" Blog Candy is KRISTI!!
So, check your email, Kristi, 'cause I've sent ya some questions!
And now...I realize I'm a little later than most of the other people who went to convention this year, but finally, here are some of my convention pics.
First of all, let me say that I am very upset with myself because I managed to get so many pictures of all the beautiful work...cards, projects, presentations....that I forgot to get pictures of one of the best parts of Convention-my FRIENDS! :( So, my appologies go out to Carey Rogers, Tina Taves, Diane Klieger, and anyone else who may not see themselves featured here. You guys are all awesome and I hope to see you again soon!
OK...these are pictures of things that were featured on the display boards or in the Legacy Room at the Stampin' Up! home office in Riverton. Just a few of my favorite ideas:
Isn't this beautiful? Everything you see here is made of cardstock, paper, ribbon, and embellishments. I just LOVE IT!
This is an awesome scrapbook layout where the designer apparently used Decor Elements on a window sheet, and then placed that between two layers of a cardstock "frame". I think it's great-unique, creative, and quite pretty.
Now...this is a very simple project, but one I just never thought of. I'm Tote-ally gonna alter the clock in my craft room now! LOL

This was part of the Christmastime display in the Legacy Room at the Riverton Campus. Now, I'm not much of a Christmas gal myself, but do love me some candles, and in our house, we LOVE LOVE LOVE music...so what better combination that music notes around candles. I really like this..and plan to make a set for the holidays.

And of course, I had to post at least one picture of the lovely Shelli Gardner and her daughter Sara. I smiled and laughed A LOT during their presentation...it was so heartwarming to see them work and play together as mother and daughter. They were great...and oh yeah...they showed some pretty amazing projects too, I must say.
Ok well, that's all for now...more later I'm sure. I promise to get back on schedule with the blog posting! So please don't give up on me yet!! Thanks!

WOOOHOOO! We made it to 50!

Hey everyone!
I'm excited to say that we finally made it to 50 followers...you know what that means, don't ya?
FREE STUFF!!! WOOHOO!!
I've written down every follower's name and will draw one out of a "hat"...that lucky follower will receive a package of coordinating Stampin' Up! product as their prize!
I'm so excited!!
In other news:
I've scheduled lots of new classes and events, so please check out the calendar on my website (www.angelakhan.stampinup.net) and/or my Meetup.com web group for all the details on how to attend. (http://www.meetup.com/StampScrapShare/calendar/list/)
And since it's so much fun to give away stuff, of course, there will be door prizes given away at each of these events.
PLUS: the first person to register for each event will get a special gift from me when they arrive. Sound fun? Well, GOOD-GO SIGN UP FOR SOMETHING!!
I'll be back later to announce the blog candy winners and post some pics from Convention!

Jackie L. Watson!

I'm sorry it's taken so long to get the winner announced, but Jackie, send me your mailing address and I'll get your blog candy right out to you...

And now..without further ado...I will start in on the THIRD VC Rocks bloghop...to which I am very late in posting.

You should have arrived here from the blog of Tessa Boulter at http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/tessaboulter/blog,

For this month's hop, I have a simple digital layout I put together using the fabulous My Digital Studio software from Stampin' Up! So...please let me know what you think of the layout...suggestions on further embellishment are of course welcome.

And as always..there is some blog candy to be had...

Curious about digital scrapbooking? Wondering if you would like full-digital or hybrid better? Well, sign up to follow my blog, and one lucky new subscriber will win a set of cards made with My Digital Studio. You can take a look at them, turn them around in your own hands and then decide if you'd like to add some extra finishing touches to make them hybrid or if you like them as they are.

Soo....sign up now!

From here, you will visit the blog of Kim Frank Abbott at http://www.stampingfunwithkim.blogspot.com/
...I'm sure she has some beautiful things up for you to oogle!

VC Rocks BLOG HOP #2!!

Hey there...
I cannot beleive it has been a WHOLE MONTH since I've posted on my blog! I've been organizing and creating and REORGANIZING...and so the cycle continues. Not to mention, SCHOOL IS OUT...so my family and I have been adjusting to our summer routine (or lack thereof). However, I did want to get in on the 2nd VC Rocks Blog Hop of the year...so THANKS FOR "HOPPING" BY, and HERE GOES:
You should have arrived here from the awesome blogland of
PATRICE --> http://mail.google.com/mail/www.mylittlepatchofdirt.blogspot.com, whose work is always AMAZING!!!
If you're reading this via a subscription and want to start from the beginning,
to go to the VC Rocks home.

Also...I'm giving away some fun blog candy, so read all the way through to see how to WIN!

OK...the project I have for you today is not much of a project, really. But it is cute, and with the new catalog release RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER, I wanted to share these with you. It is a set of mini cards using a brand new (AND GINORMOUS) Level 3 Hostess Set called Playful Pieces. The set comes with 30 (yes, I said THIRTY) stamps of all different shapes and sizes. Now, at first glance of the catalog listing, you may only see the obvious things you can create, but after dropping the box and putting it back in the box about 3 times, you start to see new ideas emerge. :) lol

In addition to the Hostess Set I mentioned, I've also used lots of other new products here, including: Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, and Cherry Cobbler cardstock, Marina Mist 1/8" taffeta ribbon, and Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Cherry Cobbler, and Marina Mist ink. Some other go-to products used here include the Word Window punch, the Modern Label punch, mini glue dots, and of course, plenty of SNAIL.
Now on to the blog candy...all you have to do is subscribe (or click follow) my blog, and leave a comment on this post, and you'll be entered in the drawing to win. The prize? Why, it's a set of these cutesy cards, including the matching stamped envelopes. I will draw the winner using random.org on Monday morning and send out an email...who couldn't use 8 little cards to hand out to people just to say "HI", right? There will also be a couple other coordinating things included...but they're a surprise!
And one more note: you may have noticed at the top of my blog that when I reach 50 followers (which could happen this weekend) I will be drawing a name and sending out ANOTHER prize for THAT lucky winner. So...what are you waiting for? Go sign up!!
Now, on to the rest of the hop...your next stop is
Stamp With Jane --> www.stampwithjane.com
I'm sure you can't wait to see the fantabulous work she has up for you...so, Happy Hopping!

Only 14 Followers Away from a Prize!

I don't have a project to post for you today because I've been working on some swaps I'm in, and I can't post the finished projects until everyone's received theirs. It's only fair...no peekin' ya know? But I did want to bring it to everyone's attention that we are only 14 followers away from someone getting some awesome BLOG CANDY!!
What I would like to ask is that each one of you who gets this in your email, please invite 5 friends to join my blog. Tell them something you saw or liked on here, and make sure they know that if they subscribe or join they will also be entered in the drawing for some great prizes!
BUT HURRY...
The first giveaway, if you remember, is a combination package of goodies (designer paper, ink, and cardstock) in any RETIRING color the winner chooses! SOME OF THE RETIRING COLORS ARE ALREADY GONE!! So, let's hurry up and get to 50, so the winner can truly have the color they want before everything sells out!

VC Rocks BLOG HOP!!

HEY EVERYONE! Welcome to the first VC Rocks blog hop of the season!!

You should have arrived here from the awesome
Brenda's Stamping Corner- http://www.brendasstampingcorner.blogspot.com/,
but if you've stumbled upon my blog from somewhere else, you'll want to start at the beginning: http://www.vcrocks.blogspot.com/.

After you've checked out my blog, please subscribe or click follow to be entered in my drawing for some awesome BLOG CANDY. I'm giving away a collection of color-coordinated Stampin' Up! products, designed to help you with all your card-making and scrapbooking projects. Also, leave a comment on THIS post to be eligible for a special VC Rocks BLOG HOP prize!

So...my blog hop project for you this weekend is a paper bag album. You've probably seen them before (this particular version came from Candace Anderson), but I thought it would be a cute end-of-the-school-year gift for my oldest daughter who is 12. She's all about friends and social activity, plus this is her first year of middle school, so what better than her own little place to collect all her memories?

Here are some pictures: sorry for the poor quality...between the lighting and my older-than-dirt camera, things just weren't working out for me today!

This album has 10 pages where she can put pictures, journaling, or whatever she likes. Plus it also has 3 slide-out pages (last photo) with more photo mattes on the front and back of each-essentially, 6 more pages for memory keeping!
I used a retired Simply Scrappin' Kit to complete this project because I wanted it to suit my daughter's particular style, but there are many Simply Scrappin' Kits available in a variety of themes, with new ones surely coming in the new catalog in July!

Let me know what you think...and don't forget to leave me a comment! Winner will be drawn by random.org on Monday, May 17!

OK...you're next stop on the hop is right here: http://www.stampinldyglfr62.blogspot.com/
ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!

Business Card Holders and other Creations!

Ok..so as some of you may know, I've joined a wonderful group of ladies who call themselves the "Late Night Stampers" on the Stampin' Up! demo only website Stampin' Connection. The leader of the LNS group, Sherrill Graff also does a "Boot Camp" of sorts to help new demonstrators (and old ones who wanna brush up on things) some helpful tips to build your business. It's a series of assignments which help to put you on a more constructive track. One of the assignments is to make some small, simple cards that can hold a business card and then over the course of your normal daily or weekly routine, distribute these business builders to your friends, neighbors and associates. I finally got my business cards ordered and my cards made...can't wait for the business cards to arrive! Tell me what you guys think:

Supplies Used:

Stamps-Hello Again

Paper-Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White;

Ink-Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green;

Accessories- Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Bigs Clear Scallop Square Die, buttons from my stash

OTHER CREATIONS

THESE CARDS ARE 2 VERY NEAR EXACT CASES FROM THE SUMMER MINI CATALOG.
I usually try to make several of the cards or projects featured in the catalogs if for no other reason but to show my customers that those projects CAN in fact be completed by a regular person like you or I. I had someone ask me once "Why do they show such complicated samples that only professional Stampin' Up! gurus could make? I wanna see some stuff REAL people can do!"

This is my swap card for one of my upline meetings this month: we were asked to use something from the new Summer Mini Catalog.

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Elements of Style

Paper: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, VersaMark (for embossing)

Accessories: Bigz Top Note Die, Big Shot, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Paper Piercing Tool and Mat Pack, Designer Label Punch, 5/8" Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, Smoosh Spritz (Log Cabin), Spritzer Tool with Chocolate Chip Stamp N Write Marker, Stampin' Dimensionals, Pop Up Glue Dots, Mini Glue Dots

Another Summer Mini Catalog CASE-VERY EASY TO DO! I thought this card might be tricky to get the measurements right because it's a different size than I normally make, but it was quite possibly the easiest card I've ever made.

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Kind and Caring Thoughts

Paper: Old Olive, Sahara Sand, Ruby Red

Ink: VersaMark, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie Marker

Accessories: Crop a Dile and grommets, Paper Piercer and Mat Pack, 5/8" Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon

The next card I have for you is one I whipped up today for the CropStop National Scrapbooking Day BlogHop Challenge. If you'd like to participate, hop on over to http://www.cropstop.com/ .

Thanks for reading! Please leave me a comment or suggestion!

Organization Progress!

Hello all! I have LOTS of stuff for you today. An update on my cleaning out and organizing-some progress! My new business card holders-just waiting on the business cards to arrive so I can send them out. And last, but not least, some new cards I've made. Enjoy...and don't forget to leave me a comment!
First up-for those of you following my organization-I have good news! If you look closely, you can see part of the table underneath my junk, er, um, my crafting supplies.

Now, it may look like I just moved some stuff around to show you the table underneath, but take a look at all the stuff I've removed from the table and organized...

These hold all my 12 x 12 materials, like Cardstock, Designer Series Paper, and Simply Scrappin' Kits.

These are my (relatively) new paper trolleys. I ordered them from my local craft store while they were on sale. I have 6 of them, which gives me 60 drawers that hold 8 1/2 x 11 materials. That's plenty of space for all my Stampin' Up! colored cardstock, plus a few extra drawers which I use to store things like printed templates and tutorials, my Stampin' Success magazines, and past catalogs that I use for inspiration. There's also space on top for things...but I haven't decided for sure what I'm going to keep up there yet.

This is a box of stamp sets that I have rounded up and cleaned all the stamps to and put them in their cases. I had loose stamps EVERYWHERE...this is nowhere near all the sets I had out. The second box is some new stamp sets that have come in but haven't even been mounted yet. There's also some alterable items in there-tins and such.

Ok, I'll be back in a few hours with a couple more posts...I have some new creations to show you!

Kind & Caring Birthday

Hello there,

Today has been an absolutely beautiful day here in Northern Virginia. So beautiful that I was able to sit outside and watch my kiddos play for about 3 hours, and since I have ZERO tolerance for heat or humidity, that is saying something!

What I have for you today is a couple pics of a gift I made for a neighbor who's birthday get-together is this weekend. It is a simple set of cards, using some fun, bright colors, and then paired with a lunch-box style tin that I picked up at my local craft store and altered to match the cards. Now, I wanted to make this card square, but I also wanted them to be able to be mailed, so that means they had to be at least 4x4. In concentrating too much on them being mail-able, I ended up making them too big to allow the tin to close. Oh well..it's decorative anyway, so I hope she doesn't mind sitting it on her desk with the cards peeking out a little bit.

So, please leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Supplies used:
Paper: Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Whisper White cardstock; Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Paper

Stamps: Kind & Caring Thoughts (Level 3 Hostess Set)

Ink: Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry

Accessories: Crushed Curry Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, Mini-Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals, Oval Punch, Scalloped Oval Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch

Someone WORKS Here??

Ok..so I promised a while back that I would post before and after pictures of my disastrous workspace...so here's the before pics.

Now...let me tell you how this happened...I actually HAVE a craft room in my basement. However, it is oddly shaped, not very big, and it's IN THE BASEMENT. That means that every time the doorbell rings (with more Stampin' Up! deliveries usually), or if I need something to drink, or if the kids wake up early from nap, I have to go up and back down the stairs. Not so much fun for me. So I find myself saying "I need to go downstairs and work on {insert pending or past due project here}, but ugh, I don't want to work down there." So I started out just going down and getting what I needed for a particular project (my monthly swap cards). That continued with each new project until now...I have almost as many supplies upstairs all over the dining room, as I have in the CRAFT room. I'm hoping if I organize it and straighten it up, that my husband will not make me go back to the craft room in the dungeon. Sooo...I hafta HAFTA get organizing. OK...so prepare yourselves...this could get ugly!

Yay! Followers!

Hey there!
Just checkin' in and dropping you guys all a note to say Thanks! I'm excited that in 2 days I've gotten 15 new followers! You guys are great, and I can't wait to see who wins the first giveaway.
My upline meeting last night was great, as always and I wanted to show you guys the results of the swap. I'm always amazed at the creativity of others and how other stampers think to use something in a totally different way than I ever thought of.
So here was my swap card that I made:

And here are a few of the ones I got back from other ladies on my team-aren't they GO-GEOUS! (to use one of Jan Tink's favorite words)

Keep checking back to see what's new....and watch for the giveaway! At this rate, I may reach 50 followers this week!!
